We asked Mr. Wasilewski several questions about the role of APEC in global business, his own view of Vietnamese business and the impact of APEC on Vietnam. Last but not least, we asked him about his plan of expanding business in Vietnam in the future.

Mr. Wasilewski displays an optimistic view about APEC and its future. According to him, APEC plays an extremely important role in the global process. Moreover, he believes that APEC will strongly grow in the coming years. He does acknowledge that APEC will help private business in member economies to reduce tariffs and other trade barriers, simultaneously helps to create jobs and provides greater opportunities for international trade and investment. Therefore, as member of APEC, Vietnam will have more opportunities to enhance economic growth and prosperity through transferring technology and learning experience from other member economies in the region. However, he also stresses that Vietnam should focus on its human resources consulting which remains as an opportunity for improvement in Vietnam. According to him, it is necessarily important for the Vietnamese younger generations to study English. In other words, he is of the opinion that employers require highly skilled English-speaking graduates, which will create better access for Vietnamese people to work with foreigners. From his point of view, professional human utilization and dynamic leadership are exactly the keys to success. Only by the full utilization of human potential can Vietnam create a more professional labor force suitable for international standards.

Our interviewee is very passionate about information technology (IT). With regard to information technology, he is attempting to recruit Vietnamese people who have advanced Internet and IT skills, with the aim of starting his own information technology business in Vietnam.

We found that he is very optimistic about the future of APEC. He hopefully expects that Vietnam will become a more and more effective and powerful corporation because of huge young member force. He intends of operating business in Vietnam i8n the coming years because he does think that Vietnam is actually a potential market for foreign trade and investment. This will bring Vietnamese people a very good opportunity of improving skills and experience in the international working environment.
