Josie Castilho
I am a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University. I was originally born in Peru where I lived for 3 years, then moved to China for a year before finally settling in the United States. Spanish is my native language, but I also speak English, a bit of Portuguese, and I am currently learning Cantonese for future business opportunities in China. I have traveled to Peru, Hong Kong, Macau, Germany, France, Mexico and different states throughout the US. I have a business trip scheduled in China in the middle of this summer, and when I return I plan on working at either TOMS Shoes or pursuing a career in fashion marketing. I have just returned from a three week trip to China. I plan on learning how to drive so that I can pursue a career either fashion marketing or wealth management. I hope to have my knowledge expanded on international business, how it is conducted, and the different business ethics of other countries after this trip to my home country of Peru.

I am very excited because Peru will be my first endeavor outside the United States. However, living in Miami, Florida I traveled to both the east and west coasts of the United States. I was raised in Southern California, with my roots in Mission Viejo and Tustin. In the future I plan on playing an active role in the success of a company. My inspiration comes from my family. I could not have been blessed with a more loving, yet brutally honest family. They are my keys to success. Most importantly, I attribute everything I am and have to God, because without him, I wouldn't even know how to finish this sentence.

I am a Junior at Loyola Marymount University studying business administration with an emphasis on marketing and international business. I am a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at LMU where I currently serve as the social chair. I was born in Lebanon and came to California when I was 3 years old. I love to travel and experience new places and cultures. My hobbies include dancing and going to the beach. I am so excited for this Peru trip and I cannot wait to bring back what I have learned to LMU and further to Los Angeles!

I am currently attending Loyola Marymount University as a history major with a minor in business administration. At the age of 23, I have done my share of traveling. I have been to several cities in Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Virgin Islands, Haiti, Puerto Rico and numerous U.S. states. Having traveled to these destinations, I feel I have been able to observe and learn about the different customs and cultures that each region has to offer. The APEC trip to Lima, Peru will give me an opportunity to learn from the business and political natures of the APEC economies in attendance. Additionally, this experience will also aid in my goal to become an attorney in international business.

I am a third year student at Loyola Marymount University. I grew up in Mexico and have traveled to Korea as a Garden Grove Unified School District representative. I am fluent in Spanish and speak some Japanese. During this summer, I am going to participate in a summer program called Business Abroad in Asia where I will be visiting Taiwan, China, Singapore, Vietnam and Japan. From this trip I hope to gain a rich cultural experience and appreciation for different traditions and customs.

I am currently a senior at Loyola Marymount majoring in business. Throughout my life, I have had the great fortune of being able to see the world. From the age of six to eleven I lived in Hong Kong where I attended international school. I have built homes in Mexico, sailed in Greece, surfed in Costa Rica, scuba dived in Belize, and been on safari in Botswana, Zambia and South Africa. I spent last semester studying abroad in London, England, where I had an internship and worked side-to-side with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. While in London I was also able to visit Istanbul, Spain, France and spend time with my relatives in Norway. An interesting fact that no one would ever guess by looking at me is that my first language was Spanish. Having not learned English until Pre-School, I consider myself bilingual. I have taken seven years of Spanish and although I may not be able to debate economics with a Spanish speaker, I am able to communicate quite well. I’m also part of the rowing team here at Loyola Marymount. Go Lions!

I am a recent graduate from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration focusing on entrepreneurship, international business and marketing. I would describe myself as an individual with a passion for the arena of international affairs. I have developed a great enthusiasm in learning about different business cultures and practices through my study aboard and travel experiences. I was fortunate to have grown up with parents that valued "exploration" of the world. I have been traveling outside of the United States since I was 1 year old and have continued to travel to different countries on a yearly basis. As of today, I have traveled to over 20 different countries. I have also worked and studied in 7 different countries throughout Asia and Europe. This travel experience has allowed me to develop an open-minded viewpoint to all different types of culture and experiences different from my own. I feel that the opportunity to attend the APEC Annual Summit will allow me to expand upon my cultural knowledge and foundation. I understand that even though I have had the opportunity to travel to so many different places around the world, I have only barely scratched the surface of all that I have to learn about today’s global market. An interesting fact about me is that my childhood dream was to become an Olympic gold medalist figure skater.

I am a standing Junior, majoring in marketing and finance at Loyola Marymount University. Throughout my life I have traveled across Europe and China. I have also traveled to Costa Rica and Mexico. Over the years, I have come to see the importance of experiencing and applying to diversity to my life. In striving to live a balanced lifestyle, I attempt to grasp as many positive elements from different cultures so that I can bring them into my own life. My ultimate goal in life is to build a successful career and raise a healthy family. Pura Vida. During our visit to Peru, I look forward to exposing myself to a new culture and the vast amount of political and economic information that will be presented.
