Introduction:

The emergence of the New Global Economy has brought about unprecedented material growth to the world, but at the same time has threatened the interests of certain aspects of society. It is most important for business and government to realize the reverberating effects their actions can have, not just on themselves, but on people and society. Globalization has been targeted by some for a widening gap between rich and poor and a deteriorating environment. Humanitarian needs and social responsibility must not be cast in the shadow of making financial and monetary profit goals when going global. As Shell spokesperson Dave Stuart said, "What is good for human rights and promotes a stable and secure environment is also good for business." There are organizations all over the world that are getting involved with business and government in order to help address the concerns of society and create a balance between the benefits and adverse effects of globalization. The meriting efforts and goals of these civil societies should not be overlooked.

First, it is essential to identify the main concerns and interests of society. Once these issues are identified, we can go forward with the second step of exploring what actions are being taken to improve conditions and by whom. With this in mind, let’s begin:
